It was one of the biggest events to hit the Strip last year with more than 1,500 people attending seemingly random shows in multiple venues. On April 13, 2012, the Red Bull Gypsy Café is back and looks to improve on last year’s success.

The Red Bull Gypsy Café is not just a Red Dirt music festival, it is a gathering of some of the genre’s greatest talent, past and present, at the birthplace of Red Dirt music -- Stillwater. The event name, Gypsy Café, pays homage to the site at “The Farm” where jam sessions sprung up over the years and where Bob Childers became the inspiration for an entire generation of music.

Four venues have signed on to host the various jam sessions that will occur at the Red Bull Gypsy Café, including Eskimo Joe’s, Willie’s Saloon, Stonewall Tavern and College Bar. At each venue, music will begin at 7pm with random pairings of singer-songwriters performing one-hour sets acoustically. At midnight, all the performers are invited to an outdoor finalé in the parking lot north of Eskimo Joe’s.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Red Dirt Relief Fund, an organization founded and administrated by Red Dirt musicians in Stillwater to act as a critical safety net for Red Dirt music people. Tickets are available now online at www.protixonline.com or at the Territory in Stillwater.
